2-nd European congress of green tourism will take place in Yalta on 26 – 28 of September. It’s motto – «Development and integration by means of green tourism». The organizers are: the European Federation of green and farm tourism “EuroGites”, the Union of green tourism support in Crimea, National tourism organization, ABE consulting (Kiev). The plenary meetings, round-tables, press-conferences and presentations are on the agenda.
The congress will focus on such relevant aspects of contemporary Ukraine as:
1. Stable development of green tourism
2. Impact of green tourism on local communities development
3. Green tourism and integration into the European community
4. Experience of green tourism in intercultural mutual understanding
5. Traditions and green tourism – important components of progress
6. Creation of international market of green tourism – capabilities and needs
The first congress of green tourism took placed in October 2003 in Hayenne, Spain in October 2003. More than 390 people form 34 countries participated in it. The Congress indicated that European green tourism is dynamically developing and constitutes a considerable part of the whole income of tourism sector in Europe. This conclusion was formed basing on the amount of the officially registered providers, working in green and farm tourism in Europe — more than 200 thousand people. They can provide dwelling for more than 2 mln. tourists which is 1,5 times more than the tourist potential of Spain being the second most visited country in Europe. Providing direct and indirect services to tourists occupies more than 500 thousand people. The income from rendering services to tourists at farms, private cottages or mini-hotels constitutes 120 mln. Euros annually.
Resolution of the First congress declares:
«Green tourism is important for the diversification of economy, preservation of rural cultural values and ecology. Modern tourism market requires personal, individual, not traditional “product”. For the rural area with its vulnerable ecology such small-scale enterprises as village tourist cottage house are the more preferable than mass tourism»
Simultaneously with the Congress exhibition-fair of green tourism “Magic Ukraine” (24-27 of September) and International wine festival (27-29 of September) and folklore festival will be taking place.
Three-days tour around green tourism objects of Crimea is planned to take place after the Congress.
Owners of rural cottage houses, farmers, subjects if entrepreneurial activity, working in tourism sector, social organizations, civil servants and self-government representatives interested in developing the tourist sector are all invited
Participation in Congress can be a useful experience for the representatives of our region. Development of tourism in general and green tourism in particular is one of the priority directions of the economic development of Odessa oblast. Special feature of our region is Lower Danube being a unique object for green tourism not only from a standpoint of marvelous landscapes, but also ethnical diversity. And there;s so much to be done in the sphere of green tourism development…
