Production of Methane from sea gashydrates |
|
|
In 1998-1999 expeditions of the Ministry of Geology, Ministry of Education and Acad-emy of Science discovered on the shelf of the Black Sea a gas hydrate deposit of the methane located about 300-1200m under the surface of the sea bottom. Its volumes are estimated as 100 trillion m^3.
Creation and exploitation on the shelf of the Black Sea of a mobile pilot-industrial inves-tigative and demonstrative gas extracting complex (GEC) is planned. It is also planned to develop a shore infrastructure in Crimea, organization of methane extraction, its liquefac-tion and realization to the owners of gas-fuel automobiles.
The project technology uses a new high technological energy saving and environmen-tally friendly processes - the extraction of methane out of the sea-bed deposited gas hydrates is performed by means of pumping the sea water to the deposit.
Methane output of the GEC is 1 mlrd. m^3/year, thawed pure water output is 61260 t/day. Net profit after taxes is 122,6 mln. dol/year.
